Each month this class covers mental aspects of of riding, such as stressless practice and how to improve more quickly, groundwork exercises, games and trivia! Participants new to horses practice basic horsemanship skills: haltering, leading, grooming and tacking up.
New riders often spend a significant part of their initial lessons learning these skills – this class gives these riders the practice needed to independently tack up their horse for a lesson, which means more time in the saddle! Once able to get their horse ready, riders are permitted to arrive early to tack up and thus spend more time in the saddle during lessons.
Four Star Farm considers horsemanship skills an essential component of the partnership with horses and recommends attending these classes a minimum of three times. Repetition is key!
Participants who have attended multiple horsemanship classes may work on more advanced skills such as lunging and wrapping legs.
