NOTE: No horsemanship class is scheduled for April. Instead, horsemanship will take place on May 8 and focus on show preparation. Especially recommended for clients entered in the May 15 at-home schooling show.
Scheduled for the third Sunday of every month, 2-4 p.m. at the barn, horsemanship classes are non-riding classes that give participants the opportunity to learn more about all that goes into caring for our equine friends.
Participants new to riding and horsemanship practice basic skills such as haltering, leading, grooming and tacking up. Beginners may spend a significant part of their initial lessons learning these skills, and this class gives these riders the practice needed to independently prepare their horse for a lesson. Once able to get their horse ready, riders are permitted to arrive early to tack up and thus spend more time in the saddle during lessons.
Four Star Farm considers horsemanship skills an essential component of the partnership with horses and recommends attending these classes a minimum of three times.
Participants who have attended multiple horsemanship classes may work on more advanced skills such as lunging and wrapping legs.
Sign-up is available on the first of the month by Venmo, @Natalie-Brady-12. Note “March 20 Horsemanship” on the transaction. Thank you!
